Empowering Patients: Join Our Panel on Self-Management and Digital Health Literacy at MIE 2024
During the 90-minute session, on August 26th, titled “Support for patient self-management and digital health literacy with more relevant health information,” speakers discussed core considerations leading to Gravitate Health digital solutions and show different strategies contributing to improving access to personally relevant health information from trusted sources.
A demonstration of end-user services included:
- the G-lens app®,
- how Gravitate Health is integrated into the Danish MyDoctor app streamlining access to up-to-date medicinal product information, enhancing the user experience for patients and healthcare professionals, and
- Capable.Life, a Norwegian digital tool, with mechanisms to prepare and focus health information to meet user needs.
The last part of the session was dedicated to a discussion about digital capabilities, functionalities, and responsible focusing with use of personal health data.
Users’ needs were placed at the center of the discussion, also ways to make data accessible, convenient, and usable to support everyday health information management.
Meet our panelists
Lene Lunde is a Post-Doc at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Norway. She has experience in technology use in education for patients, carers, and healthcare personnel. She works as a task lead in Gravitate Health.
Petter Hurlen holds dual expertise as a medical doctor and computer scientist, serving as the head of the Clinical Informatics unit at Akershus University Hospital in Norway. He is a pioneer in EHR development, in Norway and across Europe. Presently, he focuses on advancing digital solutions that empower citizens to actively engage with their personal health information and foster patient-centric collaboration.
João Almeida is a lecturer/researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University, Portugal. He has experience in data science and interoperability (HL7/FHIR) and holds the role of Product Owner in Gravitate Health.
Jens Kristian Villadsen is Chief Technology Officer at Trifork. He is a leading software architect with broad expertise in applying FHIR into existing systems.
Riccardo Leoni is a project manager, Datawizard, Italy. He is an experienced developer of web and mobile front-end solutions, including in Gravitate Health.
Anne Moen is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Norway, and adjunct professor, Norwegian Center for eHealth Research, Tromsø, Norway. She is the Coordinator of Gravitate Health.

The 34th Medical Informatics Europe Conference (#MIE2024) themed “Digital Health and Informatics Innovations for Sustainable Health Care Systems” will be held in Athens, Greece, from the 25th to 29th August 2024.
