Frode Vartdal (DOB 29 January 1949) is an MD and PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo. He has held numerous positions at Oslo University Hospital and University of Oslo, among these Professor in Immunology, Director of Clinics of Laboratory Medicine, Director of Institute of Clinical Medicine and Dean of Faculty of Medicine.
Main research focus has been neuro-immunology and transplantation immunology. He has published more than 140 scientific papers in international journals and served on many scientific committees, among these committees in EU, Novo Nordic, Finland Academy and Norwegian Research Council. He is now a member of the Board of Directors of the EU-funded Human Brain Project (EBRAINS). Moreover, he has been a member of a Clinical Ethics Committee at Oslo University Hospital-Rikshospitalet and of a Regional Committee for Medical and Health Research Ethics for Southeast Norway.
