The ecosystem centres around the Sri Lanka Health Informatics Society, with more than 20 years of experience in the country and abroad.
Cooperation between medical, health and informatics professionals has enabled the ecosystem to focus strongly on scientific publications and webinars, and even conceive its own Master’s course and PhD programme in health informatics at the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine at the University of Colombo.
The Health Informatics Society also participates actively in the design and development of other health informatics programmes in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
The key priorities of the ecosystem include interoperability of health systems, national electronic health records, and health informatics education.
